West Ham are back in European action on Thursday evening as they face FCSB in the Conference League, and the Hammers will, once again, be looking to make a deep run in this competition.

Last year, the Hammers came within a whisker of a Europa League final, and now that they’ve dropped down to the Conference League, they’ll be looking to win the whole thing.

The east London club have had a less than impressive start in the Premier League this season, so victory in this competition may well be their only route to playing Europa League football next term.

With that in mind, we’ve had a go at predicting West Ham’s starting XI for this one.

We think that David Moyes will take this competition very seriously, so we’re predicting a strong XI for this match.

There are a couple of changes in the defence as Alphonse Areola and Angelo Ogbonna come into the team.

Flynn Downes gets a start in the midfield alongside Declan Rice, while two more new signings start in the attack as Lucas Paqueta and Maxwel Cornet get into the XI.

Pablo Fornals starts down the left, while Gianluca Scamacca’s ongoing fitness issues sees Michail Antonio retain his place in the XI.

West Ham will want to build a bit of momentum after their poor start to the season, and a victory in Europe may well put the Hammers back on the right track as they look to, once again, challenge for major honours.
