Victor Anichebe will not be making his debut for the Black Cats this weekend, however.

David Moyes is hoping Jermain Defoe and Wahbi Khazri will both have recovered from injuries for this weekend’s clash with Crystal Palace, but confirmed that Victor Anichebe will have to wait to make his debut, as quoted by the Sunderland Echo.
Defoe was forced to sit out the Black Cats’ midweek victory over QPR in the EFL Cup with a slight leg problem but has returned to training and is in contention to return to the starting line-up on Saturday.

Khazri and Jack Rodwell were also omissions from the win at Loftus Road, but Moyes has confirmed that both midfielders are in line to return to the squad.
Speaking to Sunderland Echo, the Cats boss stated: “Jermain is back training today and we hope he will be OK. Khazri is also back training so hopefully he will be back too.”

After snapping up his former Everton striker on a free transfer, Moyes declared that Anichebe could be ‘unplayable’ when in the mood, but the Nigerian international will not be making his debut against Crystal Palace this weekend.
Moyes has confirmed he is searching for fitness but is not too far away from being included in the squad.
Moyes has endured a wretched start to life on Wearside, losing four of his first five league games.
Crystal Palace have strung a couple of wins together, moving them into seventh but the omens don’t favour Alan Pardew this weekend as the former Newcastle boss has beaten Sunderland only once in his last 12 attempts.
