David Moyes has admitted to Football London that he was concerned about Jesse Lingard’s fitness yesterday, but he played the West Ham United midfielder anyway.
Lingard was given the nod to start for West Ham, and Moyes admits that he had doubts about the attacking midfielder’s ability to last 90 minutes.
However, the Scottish boss needed to have no worries about the Manchester United loanee.
Lingard shone for West Ham, as he scored a brace in their 3-1 victory over Aston Villa.
And Moyes said: “Only worry was his match fitness but he looked sharp and was brilliant tonight with his two goals.”
Lingard’s initial impact at West Ham gives hope that he will be an excellent signing for the club.

Lingard’s goals will grab headlines, but his link-up play was massively eye catching, as he slotted seamlessly into Moyes’s system.
West Ham’s display last night must rank among their most impressive of the campaign, with the Hammers now sitting in fifth spot in the Premier League table.
