West Ham United manager David Moyes has been speaking to reporters ahead of his side’s clash against Arsenal, with his comments published on the Hammers’ official website.

Among the topics up for discussion was the form of Marko Arnautovic, who has impressed since Moyes took charge, scoring important goals against Chelsea and his former club Stoke City to help the Hammers move away from the drop zone.

Arnautovic is a controversial figure but there is no doubt that, when he performs to his full potential, he is a potent weapon for this West Ham side.

“He’s been very good since I’ve been here and he’s worked hard,” Moyes told whufc.com. “Marko has always been capable of these performances.

“He’s been very good for us, the supporters have taken to him and, if your effort is big, it turns people around very quickly. His efforts, combined with his technical ability, have made him a crowd favourite at the minute.”

When West Ham signed the Austrian international from Stoke it was seen as a risky move, and there is no doubt the player can be hit-and-miss.

That said, he has proved his worth in recent weeks and is clearly working hard on the training field, with Moyes a stickler for players who can effectively utilise his game plan.

He may not be everyone’s cup of tea but there is no doubt West Ham have found a new fan favourite in the form of their summer signing.
