One Everton near miss is finding form and could replace a current Toffees target.

Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe’s career has never hit the heights expected since being touted for big success in 2012 after a successful spell with Club Brugges.

He came agonisingly close to signing for Everton in 2012, with David Moyes making a late move for him in the summer transfer window.

The Toffees thought they had the deal over the line, only for FIFA to block it as the paperwork came through an hour too late, The BBC reported.

After a miserable few seasons, the midfielder is in the form of his life and could finally make an impact for the Toffees in a roundabout way.

Odjidja-Ofoe ended up moving to Norwich City, with his unsuccessful spell there seeing him loaned briefly to Rotherham.

He moved onto Polish side Legia Warsaw last summer, and has got back on track, providing 10 assists, and even scoring in a Champions League game against Real Madrid. He is in with a shout of collecting a title winner’s medal this season.

His form has him lined up for a return to Belgium, with Anderlecht claimed by Nieuwsblad to be very keen.

They are looking at the 28-year-old as a potential replacement for emerging star Youri Tielemans, who Everton are keen on.

Everton have been repeatedly linked to Tielemans through 2017, with The Mirror even reporting that Romelu Lukaku was trying to convince his Belgian teammate to join him at Goodison.
