David Moyes has suggested to the London Evening Standard that West Ham United are trying to bring in younger players this summer, but he could attempt to sign an experienced central defender.
West Ham have been linked with a number of the Championship’s brightest prospects in the early stages of the transfer window.
But it seems that the Hammers could also have one eye on bringing in some players with top flight experience.
Moyes is looking to strengthen at the back, and a central defender with Premier League knowhow is seemingly on his wish list.
“We’re trying to bring in a younger group but we will also need a couple of experienced players. Central defenders are usually better when they’re more experienced,” Moyes said.

Moyes’s comments may just suggest that a move for John Stones or Phil Jones could be possible.
The Sun suggest that West Ham want Stones, while the Independent claim that the Hammers are keen on taking Jones from Manchester United.
Moyes generally used Angelo Ogbonna and Issa Diop as his defensive pairing of choice over the past campaign, with Declan Rice tasked with protecting them in midfield.
