Moyes disappointed Edimilson Fernandes didn’t get to play against Dagenham

West Ham United are in danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

West Ham United manager David Moyes has admitted to the club’s official website that he is disappointed that Edimilson Fernandes did not feature against Dagenham & Redbridge.

The Hammers took on Dagenham in a friendly match on Wednesday, but Fernandes did not play.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who has only just recovered from an ankle injury which kept him on the sidelines for three-and-a-half months, is on international duty with the Switzerland Under-21 side at the moment.

West Ham manager Moyes has admitted that he was disappointed that he could see the Switzerland international in action this week.

Looking ahead to next weekend’s Premier League match against Southampton, Moyes told West Ham’s official website: “We’ve not necessarily got loads of players back, but we’ve got Arthur back from a long suspension and Edi Fernandes has been taken away by Switzerland to play, I hope, because he would have got a bit of time against Dagenham, but we’re not getting a chance to see him [in person].”

Quality player

Fernandes is a very good and talented young midfielder, and him being back from injury is hugely positive for West Ham.

The Hammers are struggling for survival in the Premier League at the moment, and the 21-year-old is going to be important for Moyes’s side.

Fernandes, who earns £30,000 per week as salary according to Spotrac.com, has played just seven times in the Premier League for West Ham so far this season.
