Winston Reid has been ruled out of West Ham action until the end of the season.

David Moyes has reported in his London Evening Standard column that West Ham United defender Winston Reid underwent surgery on his injured knee on Thursday, after being ruled out for the rest of the season.
The 29-year-old was taken off in the first half of the Hammers’ dismal 4-1 loss to Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium last Saturday, and will not feature for the east Londoners until 2018-19.
The New Zealand international has been ruled out alongside Sam Byram, who has injured his ankle and will also fail to return until pre-season.

Moyes updated fans on the situation regarding former FC Midtjylland defender Reid, ruing the defender’s bad luck and stating that the commanding centre-back has gone under the knife to correct the problem.
“Winston Reid is out for the rest of the season,” Moyes said. “He was due to have an operation to repair a medial knee ligament injury yesterday.
“It is really disappointing for him. It was a difficult week’s training leading up to the game because of the weather but I don’t want to make excuses — and we’ll be well prepared tomorrow despite our injuries.”

Reid joins Byram, Pedro Obiang, Andy Carroll and Edmilson Fernandes in the West Ham treatment room ahead of Saturday’s clash against Burnley, while Angelo Ogbonna is expected to return from illness.
It remains to be seen if James Collins is fit, but Moyes is thin at centre-back following the sale of Jose Fonte, while Reece Burke and Reece Oxford remain out on loan at Bolton and Gladbach.
A win is crucial against Sean Dyche’s side, with the Hammers only three points above the Premier League relegation zone.
