West Ham United boss David Moyes has admitted to Football London his side may have been relegated if they didn’t sign Tomas Soucek in January.
Soucek has been an absolute revelation since joining West Ham on loan from from Slavia Prague, with his performances seriously impressing.
Soucek’s move to West Ham is now expected to be made permanent at the end of the season.
And Moyes admits that he thinks his side could be in relegation trouble, if it wasn’t for the Czech Republic international’s strong form.
“The important thing for any manager is getting recruitment right,” Moyes said. “The two boys who came in in January have made a big difference to us. To join the Premier League and make an impact so quickly is very difficult.
“Without Tomas, I’m not sure we’d definitely be a Premier League club. He’s really blossoming.
“We’re looking for some other ones and the more we can get correct, the better we can hope for going forward.”

Soucek has not only proven a valuable addition defensively, but he has also shown his goalscoring threat recently.
The towering midfielder has netted on three occasions since the restart, with his late runs into the box proving very hard for opposition sides to deal with.
Soucek scored for West Ham in their last outing, which effectively sealed their safety, as they beat Watford 3-1.
The Hammers are now six points clear of the drop zone, with just two games to play, and they have a far superior goal difference to the sides below them.
