Leeds United loanee Marcus Antonsson has starred for Blackburn Rovers this season.

Leeds United loanee Marcus Antonsson is set to visit a specialist to determine the length of his ankle injury, Blackburn Rovers manager Tony Mowbray was quoted as saying by the League One outfit’s official website.
Mowbray informed media that the 26-year-old striker picked up an injury to his ankle during the 2-2 draw against Scunthorpe on December 30, after providing an assist for the second of Danny Graham’s goals.
The former Middlesbrough and Coventry City manager believes the injury will only keep Swedish striker Antonsson on the sidelines for a fortnight, but has decided to send him to a specialist to make sure.

Despite Antonsson’s bad luck in picking up an injury, Mowbray believes it could be a blessing in disguise as the in-form striker could return with a breath of fresh air after resting on the sidelines.
“Marcus is seeing a specialist today. He’s had scans but the specialist will nail it down with a time frame today. I imagine he’ll be out for two or three weeks but we’ll await confirmation,” Mowbray said.
“He has a goal threat from a wide area. We could see we missed him at times at the weekend. He’s like another centre forward on the pitch. He’ll be a loss but he’ll come back refreshed after giving the body a rest.”

Signed by Leeds for £2million in the summer of 2016 as Garry Monk’s first recruit at Elland Road, Antonsson has finally found his feet in English football with his explosive form in the third tier of English football.
Antonsson has scored eight goals and added four assists during 24 league and cup encounters this term, despite playing as a shadow striker rather than a centre forward.
It remains to be seen what future he has at Elland Road, with 18 months remaining on his Leeds contract.
