Gaetano Berardi posted ‘this team is unbelievable’ on his personal Instagram account after Leeds were crowned champions of the Championship yesterday.
Following Brentford’s defeat to Stoke on Saturday, it meant that Leeds, who had earned promotion to the Premier League the day before, then topped it all off by being crowned champions.
There were a number of former Leeds men who responded to Berardi’s message, including Samuel Saiz and Alex Mowatt.
Mowatt only came up against Leeds recently and he simply posted: ‘Congrats mate’, whilst Saiz sent a number of heart and clapping emojis to the versatile Leeds defender.
Leeds will now take on Derby County on Sunday, and a lot has happened since the duo met in the play-off semi-finals last season.
From the Spygate scandal to the Rams ending their Premier League hopes last term – Leeds are now heading back to the big time, whilst Derby have missed out on a top-six finish.
It will be interesting to see if Marcelo Bielsa’s side are given a guard of honour, and it would be something if they do because there’s no doubt the Elland Road faithful will be sure to rub it in.
