Some Wolves fans on social media have been raving over Willy Boly after his performance against West Brom.

The Ivorian defender will make a number of headlines for his showing against the Baggies, but perhaps not for the reason you may think.

Indeed, the centre-back turned into Wolves’ biggest attacking threat against their Mildands rivals, grabbing a goal and an assist in the first-half.

Of course, his defensive showing left a lot to be desired as he gave away a penalty early in the game, but fans were more than happy to forgive him due to his attacking output.

The manner in which he got his goal and assist was incredible as well, with a cheeky backheel setting up Fabio Silva, while he was first to pounce on a corner that West Brom had failed to clear, finishing as if he was a veteran striker.

This led to some tongue-in-cheek comparisons to the likes of Lionel Messi, Dennis Bergkamp and Didier Drogba, and while those comments were largely in jest, it has to be said that Boly did look like a top class attacker in these moments.

Unfortunately, Wolves were beaten 3-2 by West Brom, and there isn’t much to celebrate at Molineux at the moment, but at least Boly’s brilliant attacking showing has given fans something to be happy about.
