Arsenal didn’t have a great last transfer window under Unai Emery, having signed the likes of David Luiz, William Saliba and Nicolas Pepe.
But one player they also brought to North London was former Celtic kid Kieran Tierney.
And suffice to say that Arsenal got something of a bargain for the £25 million that they paid to bring the Scottish left-back in from Glasgow.
Tierney has gone from strength to strength for the Gunners and fitness permitting, he’s going to be a huge player for them.
The 23-year-old scored his second Premier League goal for Arsenal in the brilliant 4-0 win away to West Bromwich Albion last week.
He was an absolute handful of an attacking quantity on that occasion and the same could be said for his performance in tonight’s visit of Newcastle United in the FA Cup.
Despite being a left-back, the Scot was far and away Arsenal’s best player and if the hosts – who were held to a 0-0 draw after the 90 minutes, forcing extra time – were going to find the net, Tierney was going to have a role in it, but so many of his crosses and good attacking play was wasted.
Here’s how fans of the Emirates Stadium side reacted to his performance on a night where Tierney – who did eventually get his assist late on, setting up Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for his side’s second – shined in a big way.
