Liverpool youth sensation Rhian Brewster netted twice last night in an impressive away win away at Reading.

Brewster is just 16-years-old but has made a big impression at Melwood since leaving Chelsea’s academy two years ago.

He has been prolific for their under-18 side and last night showed that the step up to under-23 football is light work for him.

Joe Gomez opened the scoring for the Reds in a 5-1 victory, in which Brewster scored twice.

Fellow young striker Ben Woodburn also got on the scoresheet, keen not to be outshone by his dynamic teammate.

Woodburn made the step up to the first team in pre-season and in the EFL Cup, scoring against Leeds United, and now Liverpool have twice as much reason to be excited.

The club may be lacking a prolific striker at Premier League level, but they have two players to be very excited about coming through the academy.

Brewster turns 17 next month, and was just five when the Reds lifted the Champions League trophy in Istanbul in 2005.

He has an impressive record for England at youth level too, scoring seven times in six under-17 games.

Here is a look at how excitable Liverpool fans reacted to his performance last night…
