According to a report by the Daily Mail, Leeds United want to sign Harrison Reed this summer, and while he isn’t the flashiest of names, Leeds fans should be very excited by this.
Indeed, Reed has been described as ‘immense’ by Scott Parker, and at Leeds he could become an absolute star.
The midfielder has been Fulham’s standout performer in the midfield this season. He’s a composed figure on the ball, and he has an absolute engine on him.
You often hear about how new signings struggle to get up to speed with Marcelo Bielsa’s training methods due to the immense fitness you have to have, but Reed shouldn’t struggle with that.
The Athletic did a big breakdown of running stats in the Premier League last season, and they found Reed to be one of the four hardest-working midfielders in the division, alongside the likes of N’Golo Kante, Fred and Curtis Jones – ahead of any Leeds midfielder, despite their incredible running stats.

Now imagine a player with an engine like that playing in a Bielsa team? Fulham have been an incredibly side this term, often losing the possession battle and sitting deep against top sides, which is the antithesis of what Leeds are about, and also what Reed should be about.
The midfielder is an absolute dynamo, he’s non-stop when it comes to running and he’s also great at reading the game, making two tackles per game and 1.6 interceptions.
Stuart Dallas may be seen as the poster-boy for Bielsa’s system right now, and for good reason, but if Reed came to Leeds, we have to feel that he’d have competition from Reed in terms of fitness, ability and versatility.
Indeed, just like Dallas, Reed can play in a number of positions, with Transfermarkt’s data suggesting he’s played in no fewer than six different roles in his career, and that sort of versatility is something Bielsa loves.
Reed could come into Leeds and have a very similar impact to Dallas just because of how suited he is to Bielsa’s system.
