Ally McCoist has said that Arsenal could end up being the winners of the transfer window by signing Declan Rice in the summer.

As per a report on Saturday, the England international could earn £240,000-a-week if he joins Mikel Arteta’s side next season.

McCoist backs Rice to Arsenal as the potential best summer transfer

Several Arsenal supporters will likely be in agreement with Ally McCoist as they believe Declan Rice is exactly the kind of transfer incoming they need ahead of the following campaign.

For starters, the 24-year-old could not just provide cover for Thomas Partey but perhaps even take his place in the side, which is the level of competition the Gunners need to eventually win major trophies.

Furthermore, Rice could even operate as a box-to-box midfielder for Arteta and Co., a role where he is at his best and could succeed Xhaka in the long-term.

As Ally McCoist was quizzed about which club is likely to wrap up a transfer for Declan Rice, he said that he would be an incredible coup for Arsenal.

“If you’re an Arsenal fan, that’s the move of the season”, he said on talkSPORT.

HITC View: Rice would be one hell of a signing for the Gunners

It seems likely that despite West Ham having virtually have survived the drop, their talismanic captain is destined to depart.

As Ally McCoist said, Declan Rice to Arsenal is a transfer made in heaven.

The duel-winning ability of Rice would make the Gunners a lot more difficult to breach in midfield whilst his powerful ball-carrying ability and all-round package would add a unique element to this side.

Perhaps Rice’s only weakness is his passing range up against a high press, as his ability to dictate games tends to diminish in such situations.

But then again, Mikel Arteta is the perfect manager to help the Englishman elevate his technical understanding of the game.

At such 24 years of age and under Arteta’s keen eye, Rice has the potential of becoming the most complete midfielder in Europe one day.
