Speaking to Cardiff City’s official club website, Steve Morrison has been discussing Ollie Tanner after the winger joined the Bluebirds.
The young winger has made the step up all the way from Non-league to the Championship, but according to Morrison, he very nearly headed to the Premier League.
Indeed, Morrison says that Tanner was set to join Tottenham Hotspur – who were linked way back in January, but a move fell through, leading to a swoop from Cardiff City.

Morrison spoke about bringing Tanner to the Cardiff City Stadium and his failed move to Tottenham.
“When his move fell through with Tottenham, we were all over it. We monitored him for the rest of the season, and he did really well,” Morrison said.
“Again, he wants to be a part of it. That’s what we want; we want people who want to be here, so we’re giving him a platform to build on and it’s up to him to take the opportunity now.
“He comes in as his first experience of full-time football, but we’ll nurture him and manage him right.”
Talent
Tanner may be coming out of Non-League, but it looks as though Cardiff have gotten themselves a gem here.
The fact that Tottenham wanted to sign him tells you all you need to know about his talent, and the 20-year-old is certainly one to watch in the Championship next season.
Tanner has also previously been on the books at Arsenal, and now, he’s going to get his first proper chance of playing senior football at the professional level.
It remains to be seen whether or not he can adjust, but given that Spurs wanted to sign him, we’re backing him to do well in the Championship.
