Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has commented on Tony Xia’s plans for the club.
Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has told The Mirror that club owner Tony Xia has ‘mouth-watering and quite remarkable’ plans for the club moving forward.
Villa took on Cardiff City at Villa Park on Saturday afternoon, coming off a six-game unbeaten run under new boss Bruce, and that run has been extended to seven games after a superb win at Villa Park.

Bruce’s men took the lead when Albert Adomah scored his first goal for the club since his August move from Middlesbrough, but Rickie Lambert’s almost instant response brought Cardiff level.
Jonathan Kodjia – another August signing for Villa – restored the lead before half time, and just six minutes after Lee Peltier had been sent off for Cardiff, striker Rudy Gestede scored an injury-time penalty to seal a 3-1 win for Villa.
The victory will have been particularly pleasing for Villa’s Chinese owner Tony Xia, who made the trip to Villa Park to watch his side in action – and manage Bruce has now spoken about his meeting with the 40-year-old businessman.

Bruce has told The Mirror that Xia visited the Villa training ground to watch drills, before revealing that Xia has ‘mouth-watering’ and ‘quite remarkable’ plans for the club in the near future.
Bruce noted that those plans depend on the club winning promotion back to the Premier League, and with the club now just four points off the play-offs, a top six finish is a real possibility.
Xia has been ‘absolutely terrific’ according to Bruce, and feels that the owner is genuinely excited about the club – something Villa fans will love to hear after years of question marks over former owner Randy Lerner.

“He came to watch us train and he’s full of enthusiasm for the club to do well,” said Bruce. “His plans for the future of the club are mouth-watering. First of all we’ve got to get out of this division and that’s not easy.”
“But the plans he’s got going forward are quite remarkable really. He’s genuinely excited, it’s his club, he’s spent a lot of his hard-earned money to secure it. We had a 10-minute chat and a cup of tea and he’s been absolutely terrific – but when you win, it always helps everybody, especially the owner,” he added.
