Tottenham Hotspur completed the most dramatic transfer deadline day signing when they snapped up Frenchman Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United in a £30 million.
It first looked like a move to Spurs, or at the time Everton, was on when Sissoko was given permission by the French Football Federation to leave Les Bleus training at Clarefontaine.
That meant his preparation for France’s first World Cup qualifier v Belarus was disrupted slightly this week.

France ended up drawing that game 0-0 and the Tottenham newbie struggled to have an impact on the game.
Speaking after the match, as quoted by Ouest-France, Sissoko suggested his transfer to Spurs certainly had some bearing on his France performance.
He stated:
“I am a player with big volume to continue the longer the game progressed,
“I felt it. It’s true that I had a complicated preparation because of a late transfer.
“I can do better but I’m satisfied with my performance. There is still positives from this game.”

Sissoko was not the only player who performed below-par for France last night but Spurs fans can certainly take solace in the fact that he was actually one of his nations better performers in a lacklustre turnout in Minsk.
Spurs fans will hope that he can have more of an impact if he makes his debut for Tottenham against Stoke City this weekend.
