Tottenham Hotspur claimed a 2-1 win over Burnley on Sunday evening.

Tottenham Hotspur closed the gap on the top four to just one point with a 2-1 home win over Burnley on Sunday evening.

Having beaten Hull City 3-0 in midweek, many Spurs fans were expecting a similarly comfortable win over Burnley, who had only grabbed one point away from home this season.

White Hart Lane was then stunned into silence as Ashley Barnes put the visitors in front after 21 minutes, but Tottenham hit back swiftly, with Dele Alli equalising just six minutes later.

Burnley frustrated Tottenham for much of the second half, but left back Danny Rose popped up with the winning goal with less than 20 minutes to play, finishing well after being played in by Moussa Sissoko.

Spurs saw the game out and claimed a 2-1 win, meaning they now sit just one point behind fourth-placed Arsenal, who lost 2-1 away at Manchester City on Sunday.

After the final whistle, a host of Spurs players took to Twitter to send messages to fans about the game, with star striker Harry Kane admitting it was good to get the win, before asking supporters to guess who he was being transformed into for fancy dress.

Other players took a more simple approach, with Jan Vertonghen, Victor Wanyama and Christian Eriksen all celebrating three points, whilst Kyle Walker congratulated fellow full back Danny Rose on his winning goal.

Midfielder Moussa Sissoko also sent a celebratory message to fans after a strong cameo appearance, with Ben Davies pleased to make his return having been out of the team since the 2nd of November.
