Tottenham midfielder Moussa Sissoko hopes his teammate will get his chance.
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Moussa Sissoko has praised winger Georges-Kevin N’Koudou and hopes he will get his chance.
Both players signed for Spurs on transfer deadline day in September 2016 and endured difficult seasons.
While Sissoko was panned for costing £30 million and making just eight league starts, N’Koudou’s failure almost slipped under the radar.
The former Marseille winger cost £11 million and did not earn a single Premier League start.
Sissoko has kicked on in his second season, but N’Koudou’s frustration continues.
Former Newcastle midfielder Sissoko said: “We do not hear much from Georges-Kevin, but he’s fine. He works every day.
“He’s a young player. As for me, his first year here was not successful, but he is someone who never gives up on anything.
“Little by little, the coach gives him playing time. He brings him in for a few minutes. I am here to help him to support him.
“He feels good about the team. I hope that this year he will have a lot more playing time and that he will have the chance to flourish on the field. He is happy, he continues to work quietly.”
Spurs certainly hoped N’Koudou would be able to have more of a telling impact, especially after Clinton N’Jie failed in similar circumstances.
Unlike N’Jie, Mauricio Pochettino has retained N’Koudou’s services into his second season, and has not completed given up on him.
Tottenham need a speedy winger capable of influencing games and stretching teams, and if N’Koudou can kick on, it will make a big difference to the team.
