Moussa Sissoko left Newcastle United in 2016.

Moussa Sissoko left Newcastle United in 2016 and the club are still on his mind.
He has discussed his exit from the club in an interview with The Mail.
Sissoko says that he had full confidence Newcastle would not stay in he Championship for long, and he left because he wanted to play at a higher level.
He says his big regret was the fact they were relegated in the first place and Newcastle did not have manager Rafa Benitez in charge earlier.
Sissoko told The Mail: “My first relegation. I was very sad. Newcastle are a huge club with massive fans and the potential is big. On the pitch, we did not do enough. We did not show our quality.
“I believed Newcastle would come straight back up but I went to Tottenham to fight for titles. I actually wish Rafa Benitez was there for more than the final three months of that season because we would have stayed up if he had come earlier.”

Sissoko added that he joined Newcastle in the first place because he wanted to emulate his hero Patrick Vieira by playing in the Premier League.
He is currently starring for Tottenham, who are in third place in the top flight. Newcastle are in 13th, having earned promotion straight back up in 2016/17.
