Moussa Sissoko asked if he expects to see out Spurs contract

Moussa Sissoko’s Tottenham Hotspur contract expires at the end of the 2020/2021 season.

Moussa Sissoko has told Foot Mercato that he cannot say whether he expects to remain at Spurs for the duration of his current contract, but currently has no plans to leave anytime soon.

Sissoko appears to be leaving many Spurs fans changing their mind on the Frenchman. It seems that several of the supporters have now accepted that the 29-year-old is rarely going to be the best player on the pitch, but he often makes up for that with his work-rate and glimpses of quality.

He is already only two Premier League starts off matching his tally from the entirety of his first season at White Hart Lane.

Sissoko’s contract expires in 2021. But, despite his improvement since his arrival, the former Newcastle star remains unsure what the future holds after being asked whether he expects to see his current deal out.

“If I say yes, it would be lying. If I say no, it would be lying too because in football everything goes fast. I can say no and for example, tomorrow something happens, the club wants to sell me or I want to leave,” he told Foot Mercato.

“It’s hard to answer that question. I move from day to day. For the moment, I feel good there and it is the most important. I try to keep moving forward and growing. We’ll see what happens in the future. But for now, I do not have my head elsewhere.”

As mentioned, Sissoko rarely provides those moments that change games. But his role seems to have become doing a lot of the work that allows other midfielders such as Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen to focus on those key pieces of magic.

And with Mauricio Pochettino’s side having to deal with several injuries in midfield this term, Sissoko has been able to establish himself as an important player for Tottenham after a couple of difficult years at the club.
