The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder was a shock signing in the summer.

Tottenham Hotspur pulled off a shock move in the summer by deciding to bring in Moussa Sissoko from Newcastle United.

He cost, according to the BBC, a fee in the region if £30 million and Spurs beat off Everton to tie him down to a deal.

The Frenchman had just starred for his national team at the European Championships and had his eye on a move to Real Madrid.

But now he is at Tottenham he has not exactly taken the world by storm. He has had to work hard for first-team action and not impressed when given the chance.

This weekend he has speaking to the press in France about the start of his Spurs career. He admitted to SFR Sport that he was hoping for more regular first-team football but that he is giving his all for the team:

“I was hoping for more playing time, but right after as I said before, I joined a group that has worked very well last year finishing third. It is almost the same squad with two or three new players so little by little I try to do my best.

“During the short playing time that the manager gives me, I try to give the best of myself to help the team. We will see what will happen, the most important is the collective, we show beautiful things.

“Personally I will continue to fight, to try to bring what I can to the team and try to have as much time as possible playing, I think that’s the most important thing.”

Sissoko was a shock signing considering the reports about his attitude from his time at St James’ Park. Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino runs a tight ship with a close-knit group.

Sissoko however appears to be on board. He understands he was never going to walk into such a successful team and must do more to earn his Spurs.
