Moussa Dembele has sent a message to Celtic fans on Twitter, after leaving the club on Friday.

The French hitman forced a £19.7 million switch to Lyon after seemingly falling out with Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers.

The acrimonious circumstances of his departure from Parkhead will have left a bitter taste with many fans of the Scottish club.

But Dembele, who managed 26 Premiership goals in 55 outings for Rodgers’s side since joining in 2016, has moved to make peace with them – and admitted it’ll be hard for him to miss tomorrow’s Old Firm with Rangers at Celtic Park.

Dembele’s sentiments won’t be enough to make a lot of Celtic fans forgive him, but many others will let bygones be bygones after the gesture.

The writing appeared to be on the wall on Thursday evening, when the former Fulham marksman, a £500,000 signing two years ago, posted a couple of messages on Twitter which were perceived to be aimed at Rodgers for allegedly blocking his transfer.

He told a press conference, as reported by BBC Sport on Saturday, that the Bhoys ‘gave in’ and let him join the Ligue 1 side eventually.
