Moussa Dembele is reportedly targeting a return from injury for Celtic’s first clash with Rangers this season.

Celtic fans would have surely been delighted by the report recently coming out of The Scottish Sun that suggested that Moussa Dembele had earmarked the first Old Firm game of the season as the fixture that he would target to make his comeback from injury.
The Frenchman has suffered with a hamstring injury in recent months, but is set to target the first clash of the season with Pedro Caixinha’s men for his return.

But while the news is undoubtedly a major boost for the Hoops, there is perhaps one of Dembele’s teammates who may not be completely overjoyed – and the forward will surely know exactly why.
Odsonne Edouard arrived on loan from Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day as Brendan Rodgers looked to bolster his striker options.

While the 19-year-old could feature in a number of games before they travel to Ibrox later this month, he may well have earmarked the Old Firm game as a real opportunity to establish himself with the Hoops – just as Dembele did one year ago.
The former Fulham man celebrated his first clash with Rangers by scoring a stunning hat-trick, and suddenly his solid but unspectacular start to life with the Bhoys was largely forgotten about and a ruthless run was sparked.
Edouard may have been hoping somewhat that if Dembele was sidelined for the clash, he would have a better chance of being involved as he would have seen his new teammate prove how beneficial a brilliant derby day display can be, especially if it is their Old Firm bow also.
But unfortunately for Edouard’s chances of featuring against the Gers, it appears that Dembele is doing everything he can to make sure that he is back for the trip to Rangers.
