Celtic striker Moussa Dembele has told the club’s official website that his determination to win trophies was the reason behind his move to the club.

The young striker joined the club in the summer transfer window in a £500,000 move from Championship side Fulham.

He had impressed with the Cottagers, scoring 17 goals in 46 games in all competitions last season.

Dembele has since shone at Celtic Park, currently sitting on 15 goals in 21 games in all competitions.

One of his most important came last weekend as he bagged a late winner in the League Cup semi-final clash with Rangers that saw them seal their place in the final alongside Aberdeen.

And Dembele says he is determined to ensure they secure victory, as it is the reason he joined the club in the first place.

“The reason I joined Celtic is because it’s a winning club, which is used to winning trophies and that’s what I want to do as a football player and now I have that chance,” he told the club’s official website.

“We have to make sure we stay unbeaten and keep winning games in the league because we want to win everything, home or away, and all the domestic cups.”

It remains to be seen if Celtic can go on to enjoy success under Brendan Rodgers this season.

The Scottish Premiership appears to be theirs to lose, with the Hoops currently top of the table and seven points clear of second-placed Aberdeen.

It will be interesting to see where their priorities lie as the campaign progresses, with the Champions League arguably taking precedence over everything else at this moment in time.
