Mousa Dembele has given an interview to RF TV which he spoke about his move from Tottenham Hotspur to Guangzhou R&F and Spurs fans will surely be happy to know he sees shades of his former club at his new employers.

The Belgian midfielder enjoyed six-and-a-half-years in the Lilywhites shirt after moving from Fulham in August 2012, clocking up 249 appearances for the North London club with 10 goals scored and 12 assists notched up (Transfermarkt).

In January, Dembele – whose contract at Spurs was up at the end of the season – left the Premier League outfit to join Chinese Super League side Guangzhou R&F for a deal reported by Sky Sports News to have been in the region of £11million.

The 31-year-old’s move prompted emotional farewell messages from some of his soon-to-be-former teammates, including Harry Kane and Dele Alli, who paid tribute to him on Twitter, while Dembele’s own departing tweet also got a positive response from fans.

Speaking about what he thinks of his club and the dressing room dynamic so far, Dembele is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: “I like the fact there are a lot of jokes on the pitch but when it has to be serious, they are serious, everyone is serious. Between everything, the exercises, the people, the jokes, it’s what I like as well.

“The jokes and everything is similar to Tottenham. The group atmosphere is very comparable with Tottenham. I like this because in Tottenham it was a good group, everyone was very good together. I feel as though here that all the players have a good mentality I think.”

As well of talk of a move to China, a number of Italian clubs, including Inter Milan, were also linked with Dembele, according to Football.London.
