The Tottenham Hotspur player is reportedly a target for the Chinese Super League.
According to a report from newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Mousa Dembele is one of five Belgian players to have been offered a lucrative move to the Chinese Super League.
Along with the Spurs man, Romelu Lukaku, Marouane Fellaini, Christian Benteke and Dries Mertens are all said to have been contacted about the prospect of switching clubs, but it would be surprising if any ultimately made the move at this stage of their career.
Benteke has already ruled out the prospect, while there is no chance Lukaku or the in-form Mertens are heading that way for now.
As for Dembele, he told Het Nieuwsblad, “It is a very difficult choice. For young players (who) still have to grow it is not wise to go down.
“For older players it might be different. But honestly, I have no idea about the level of football. It is hard to say.”
Dembele still has over two years left on his current contract and he remains an integral part of this Tottenham side, scoring one goal and providing four assists in 12 league appearances to date.
While Spurs have some of the most exciting young players in the country coming through their ranks, their more experienced heads should not be understated and manager Mauricio Pochettino will not want to lose Dembele any sooner than he has to.
With Tottenham looking to challenge for the league this season and beyond, now is not the time for the Belgian to try his hand elsewhere, no matter how much money is on offer.
