Tottenham Hotspur’s Mousa Dembele praises Harry Winks.

Mousa Dembele has sung the praises of team-mate Harry Winks on Tottenham Hotspur’s official website.

The 20-year-old midfielder impressed in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Burnley in what was only his second Premier League start.

On his top-flight debut, Winks made headlines for marking such a big occasion by scoring in the 3-2 home victory over West Ham United last month.

The youngster is making quite a name for himself under Mauricio Pochettino this season, and Dembele says that even last season he could see that the Tottenham academy product was something of a special product.

“I think he did very well again in the Burnley match,” he told Spurs’ website.

“Last year, even though he didn’t play too much, we saw that he had a lot of potential and I’m glad for him that he’s been getting some opportunities and his ability is coming out on the pitch now.

“He’s making progress as a young player but he’s a good guy as well so everybody appreciates him and wants him to succeed.”

It’s easy to get excited by the Spurs starlet but it is also worth remembering that he is still very young.

Sure, he could go the way of Harry Kane and become a hugely important member of the Tottenham side, but he might be one of those academy products who struggles for first-team football before ultimately leaving.

At the moment, though, the signs are very promising that Winks could be in North London for a while yet.
