Pedro Caixinha has been linked with the vacant Glasgow Rangers job.

Pedro Caixinha is the surprise name linked with the job at Glasgow Rangers, with SkyBet listing him on Wednesday morning as the 2/1 favourite.

Caixinha is currently the manager at Qatari side Al Gharafa, but took his coaching course in Glasgow and is a big admirer of Scottish football.

The Daily Record report Caixinha has a strong working relationship with Jose Mourinho, who first recommended he take the course in Scotland back in 2011.

Here is a look at three Manchester United players Caixinha could attempt to sign for Rangers…

Joel Pereira

Pereira is a highly rated goalkeeper who would be pushing for the first team at Old Trafford if United did not have the irrepressible David de Gea.

The 20-year-old hails from Caixinha’s native Portugal and impressed on a loan spell at Rochdale earlier this season.

The Rangers goalkeeping jersey is far from secure for Wes Foderingham, and Pereira would give him a serious challenge.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah

Fosu-Mensah is a versatile player who can play at full-back or in central midfield.

The teenager has already been capped by Holland, but has found chances limited under Jose Mourinho.

The Red Devils may only be receptive to a loan deal, yet this alone would be a smart move for Rangers, who in doing so could lay the groundwork for a permanent switch later down the line.

Ashley Young

Former England international Ashley Young has won every domestic trophy on offer for Manchester United, and is expected to move on this summer.

Young won’t be short of options, but a switch to Rangers could appeal if he can be persuaded they can match his ambitions.

The 31-year-old could prefer a move to Ibrox than deciding to drop down the Premier League.
