Manchester United could offer up Luke Shaw to Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

Manchester United defender Luke Shaw looks set to move on this summer according to BBC Sport, with the full back keen to leave after Jose Mourinho’s latest tirade against him.

Shaw has never quite convinced Mourinho of his quality, but he was given another chance to shine against Brighton and Hove Albion in the FA Cup on Saturday evening – only to be substituted at half time.

Mourinho blasted Shaw’s performance, and the 2014 signing from Southampton now appears to be heading for the Old Trafford exit door, with the 22-year-old no doubt keen to restart his career away from Mourinho.

The Daily Star report that United may be keen on Tottenham Hotspur’s Danny Rose, and could offer up Shaw in part-exchange, in order to reunite him with his former Southampton boss Mauricio Pochettino.

That may work out well for all parties, given Rose’s desire to move back up north, and the whole situation may also be ideal for Tottenham’s hard-bargaining chairman Daniel Levy.

Levy is known to be a tough negotiator, and Mourinho’s comments may diminish the value of Shaw in any negotiations of a part-exchange deal, given that it’s clear to see he isn’t wanted at Old Trafford.

Levy can subsequently charge a hefty transfer fee for Rose even if Shaw is included, with United having virtually no chance of pulling off a straight swap deal between the two players.

Mourinho’s stance on Shaw isn’t even a one-off, meaning United are unlikely to claw back any sort of negotiating stronghold – and that may be just how Levy wants it, if Pochettino is keen to take Shaw in a deal for Rose.
