Gareth Bale may have only just joined Tottenham, but some people already have eyes on his eventual return to Real Madrid, and a potential permanent deal at the north London club.

Jose Mourinho may want to keep Bale beyond this season, but if he doesn’t manage to clinch a deal to keep the Welshman at the club, it’s not the end of the world.

Spurs already have the perfect Bale replacement on their books, so if they don’t manage to keep hold of the 31-year-old, they won’t suffer too much.

We’re talking about Ryan Sessegnon.

Comparisons between Sessegnon and Bale are nothing new, the former Fulham man has been compared to the Wales international pretty much since his debut, but even we have to admit there are some stunning parallels to be made.

The most obvious thing to point out is that both players started as left-backs before moving to play in more advanced positions, and the fact that they are both speedy left-footers does understandably make them similar to watch.

Sessegnon himself has previously said that he wants to be more like Bale, and while he hasn’t shown all that much promise at Spurs so far, next season could be big for him.

Think about it, working with Bale for a year will have taught Mourinho and his coaching staff a lot about how to deal with such a player and how they can mould Sessegnon into something similar.

With Sessegnon, the sky is the limit in terms of what he can become, he was the Championship Player of the Year at the age of 18, and his potential is seemingly limitless, but it’s up to his coaches to unlock that.

Mourinho and his backroom staff should be studying everything Bale does in training; how he moves, what he works on, how he strikes a ball, and they should look to impart that wisdom on Sessegnon once he is back from his loan spell.

In an ideal world, Bale would stay on a permanent deal and help Sessegnon with his development on a one to one basis, but if that isn’t possible, Spurs’ coaching staff will have to work hard to make Sessegnon into the player his £25 million price tag indicates he could be.
