Spain produced a quite remarkable display on Tuesday night, hammering Germany 6-0 in a stunning UEFA Nations League performance.
Manchester City talent Ferran Torres smashed a hat-trick, whilst Alvaro Morata, Rodri and Mikel Oyarzabal also got themselves on the scoresheet.
If Tottenham fans were looking to see defender Sergio Reguilon making a big impact in this game, they may have been disappointed; he wasn’t involved as Jose Gaya started at left back.
Reguilon picked up an assist against Switzerland over the weekend, but he wasn’t given a chance to build on that as he missed out against Germany, seemingly through selection rather than injury.
However, this is certainly an unexpected boost for Tottenham, with Reguilon given something of a rest ahead of this weekend’s game with Manchester City.
Fans always dread players coming back from international duty tired or injured, and Spurs are already one defender down for the City clash with Matt Doherty out.
Reguilon’s night off last night means he should be fit and raring to go to face City this weekend, rather than risking leaving Mourinho without another full back.

Reguilon may well be needed against one of his international teammates, as the aforementioned Torres may well start on the right flank for City.
His knowledge of the former Valencia star may just give him the edge over Ben Davies at left back, even if the Welshman is considered to be more defensively solid.
Fans will still fear injuries or knocks to the likes of Harry Kane, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Gareth Bale given that they’re in action today as well, but Reguilon’s absence last night was a welcome boost for Tottenham ahead of this weekend’s game.
