Jose Mourinho has suggested that Erik Lamela may not even be in Tottenham Hotspur’s squad against Fulham this evening, as per his comments to Football London.
Lamela was pictured flouting lockdown rules over Christmas, as he attended a gathering with some Tottenham teammates, and he has not been seen in a Spurs squad since.
His absence from the squad could now be extended, even though Tottenham are in action this evening.
Mourinho was asked whether Lamela was available, and he responded: “He is but I don’t know, but I think you understand what I want to mean. He can be selected for tomorrow, he can. Legally he can but I still have a decision to make.”
Whether Mourinho is leaving Lamela out of the team due to disciplinary or footballing reasons is not yet clear.
Lamela has previously been one of Mourinho’s most trusted options off the bench, but the £25 million man (BBC Sport) seems to have fallen down the pecking order recently.

Tottenham do have the likes of Dele Alli, Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn who can all play in similar areas to Lamela.
And it seems that Mourinho will be picking between one of the aforementioned trio rather than the Argentine to start against Fulham this evening.
