Tottenham Hotspur fans may be somewhat baffled upon hearing that Gedson Fernandes is wanted by Atletico Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.

Former Tottenham Hotspur loanee Gedson Fernandes could earn a big transfer in 2024.

Spurs fans may remember Fernandes from a rather uneventful man spell back in 2020.

Tottenham pounced to take Fernandes on an 18-month loan deal in January 2020, shortly before the global pandemic hit.

Fernandes had shown potential with Benfica and Spurs managed to land a £43million permanent option as part of the deal with Jose Mourinho luring him to North London.

However, Fernandes managed just seven Premier League appearances and had his loan cut short in January 2021 in order to facilitate a move to Galatasary.

Gedson Fernandes now a wanted man after Tottenham spell

Fernandes then went on loan to Caykur Rizespor before securing a permanent move to Turkey, joining Besiktas in 2022.

The 24-year-old has excelled for Besiktas and now finds himself as a wanted man.

Turkish newspaper Sabah report that Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Atletico Madrid all scouted Fernandes in action last week.

Besiktas faced Club Brugge in the Europa Conference League last week and Fernandes was under the microscope.

Fernandes has now hit four goals and nine assists in 47 Besiktas games and could land himself a move to a major European club in 2024.

Tottenham surely won’t be back in for Fernandes

Maybe Tottenham will still be keeping tabs on Fernandes; it would be natural to have one eye on former players.

In the case of Fernandes though, it’s very hard to imagine that Spurs will be back in for him any time soon.

Spurs are pretty well-stocked in midfield, especially with Rodrigo Bentancur hopefully coming back from injury soon.

Fernandes made absolutely no impact in the Premier League and whilst he has developed his game, Tottenham will surely look elsewhere if they want to dip back into the market for a midfielder.
