Jose Mourinho has told Sky Sports, during their live coverage of Tottenham Hotspur’s game against Chelsea, they he took the pressure off his side before the penalty shoot-out last night.
Tottenham ultimately beat Chelsea on spot kicks to progress in the League Cup, with Mourinho’s men scoring every single one of their five penalties.
And Mourinho said that he insisted to his side that he was proud of their efforts after 90 minutes, as they grabbed a 1-1 draw against their London rivals.
“I told the players before the penalties, I don’t care about the penalties, I care about what they did – and they were the best team, they were magnificent,” Mourinho said.
“In the second half a super team like Chelsea looked very ordinary, and they are not. They are a super team. They played so well.”
Tottenham named a much rotated line-up for their League Cup clash with Chelsea, but they still managed to come out on top.

When Chelsea took the lead through Timo Werner early on there were fears that Spurs could be on the wrong end of the result.
But Tottenham fought back and produced an excellent display in the second half.
Erik Lamela’s equaliser was well merited when it eventually came late on, and then Tottenham went on to show great nerve in the shoot out to claim victory.
