Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has told Football London that his players were happier than usual in the dressing room, after beating Arsenal yesterday.
Spurs picked up a hugely important 2-1 win against their main rivals on Sunday, as the Lilywhites responded to some fierce criticism which has been directed at them in recent weeks.
Tottenham had struggled to show much attacking class before yesterday’s game, but they were worthy winners against Arsenal in the end.
Mourinho’s decision to switch to a 4-4-2 formation seemed to help the side, as Tottenham created a sizeable amount of chances throughout the contest.
And Mourinho says his players were far more happy than usual in the dressing room after.
“I could feel the boys’ happiness was different. For everyone, the kit man, it was special.” he said.
“We can have two days now to enjoy it but then it’s time for Newcastle. It’s a ground of course that I have never won at.”
The outpouring of relief from Tottenham’s players further highlights how much the pressure had been building on them after their recent slump in results.

Spurs have now moved back ahead of Arsenal, and have reason for optimism about the rest of the campaign.
Tottenham’s main aim will be to ensure that they have European football to look forward to next term, with Mourinho’s side currently sat in eighth place in the table.
