Jose Mourinho has told Football London that Alfie Devine is no longer training with Tottenham Hotspur’s first-team.
Devine featured for Spurs against Marine in the FA Cup and he scored during their 5-0 triumph.
By hitting the back of the net Devine became Tottenham’s youngest ever scorer in the club’s history.
But Mourinho wants to keep the teenager’s feet on the ground, and has put him back in Tottenham’s academy side for the time being.
“I don’t know because I sent him back to the academy,” Mourinho said, when asked about how Devine’s reaction has been since scoring.
“When you reach that high moment then it’s the time to go and work.”
The good news for Devine is that if he keeps performing to his current levels then it surely only a matter of time before he in brought back into senior training at Spurs.
The likes of Harvey White and Jack Clarke, who are three years older than Devine, have now established themselves in the first-team group and that will surely be the plan for the teenager in the future.
If Devine is to feature for Tottenham’s under-18’s in their next match, then he could play against West Ham United on Saturday morning.
