Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has insisted to Football London that he is pleased with Tanguy Ndombele’s form, even though his standards have dropped a couple of times this season.
Ndombele is often taken off in Tottenham’s games, even though he has been a regular starter this season.
And Mourinho feels that Frenchman still doesn’t quite have the fitness required to last the full match.
“We are happy, apart from a couple of matches where his performances were not good, overall there was a big evolution,” Mourinho said.
“I believe, to play at this intensity – Premier League intensity – and to last for 90 minutes is of course another step in the direction of his fitness.
“But he’s a player of course who is playing very well and is giving some good things to the team.”
Despite being taken off regularly, Ndombele’s resurgence has been a major success story at Tottenham.
The club’s record signing was cast aside by Mourinho last year, but he is now playing a key role.

Ndombele has started in all but three of Tottenham’s Premier League games this term, and the regular game times seems to be benefitting him.
The former Lyon man produced arguably his best performance in a Spurs shirt in his last outing, as he scored in Mourinho’s side’s 1-1 draw with Wolves.
Ndombele is widely expected to start again for Spurs this evening, when they take on Fulham.
