Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has told Football London that Serge Aurier actually had an injury scare in the warm-up yesterday.
Spurs almost put a right-back on their bench as a precaution, after Aurier seemed to pick up an issue in the warm-up.
But thankfully for Mourinho none of his players picked up any injury issues during the game, as Spurs picked up a 2-0 win over their North London rivals.
“Hugo was a doubt. What happened to Partey could have happened to Toby. Harry a doubt, Reguilon. Aurier in the warm-up as well,” Mourinho revealed.
“We almost changed the bench to have a right-back on there. Then this morning we decided that Tanguy couldn’t play but Gio came in and did very well.”
Mourinho’s suggestion that Aurier may not have been 100 per cent fit going into the game makes his performance all the more remarkable.

The right-back continued his fine run of form by putting in what must rank as one of his best displays in a Tottenham shirt.
Aurier has typically been rash defensively and unreliable since his move to North London, but under Mourinho this season his game has been taken to a new level.
Aurier has excelled and seems to be Spurs’s first choice right-back currently, despite the arrival of Matt Doherty over the summer.
