Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has revealed to Football London that Oliver Skipp and Gedson Fernandes are both being trained as right-backs.
Tottenham have a lack of options on the right-hand side of their defence, with both Juan Foyth and Japhet Tanganga out injured.
Serge Aurier is effectively Mourinho’s only natural option in the position, which could prove problematic as Tottenham have a host of fixtures coming up.
But Mourinho insists that he has been working on a plan-b, in case he needs to take Aurier out of the side.
“We don’t have Japhet and Foyth, which is a boy who played there with Argentina and under Mauricio a few times. The right-back position is not available so I’d yes it’s where are a little bit more in trouble,” Mourinho admitted.
“In training we did sometimes Skipp, we did sometimes Gedson. We know we can also do Toby because a few years ago he used to do that sometimes with Atletico Madrid, and Southampton I think he did sometimes a couple of times.
“So in emergency situations here we go. Even Moussa Sissoko did it already too. So yes it’s the position we don’t have a second body.”

Skipp has only previously played for Tottenham in central midfield, so seeing him at right-back would be interesting.
Skipp does possess some strong defensive attributes, but whether he has the pace to slot in at full-back is up for debate.
Fernandes, meanwhile, is usually used in an attacking role by Tottenham, with dribbling one of his key qualities.
If the Benfica loanee was used in the backline there would have to be question marks over his defensive ability.
And Mourinho is likely to be hoping that Aurier stays fit for the run in, with Sheffield United next up for his side this evening.
