Jose Mourinho has admitted to Football London that Harry Kane is going to start for Tottenham Hotspur this evening, but he’s not actually certain whether the striker will last for even an hour.

Tottenham are set to take on Manchester United, and Kane will be given the nod to lead the line for the first time since January.

Kane has managed to recover from injury, in what is a huge boost for Tottenham.

But Mourinho admits that he is not totally sure about Kane’s fitness level right now.

“Harry Kane hasn’t played football for more than six months,” Mourinho said.

“So again, he is working extremely well. I can tell you no problem, he’s going to start the game. Does Harry have 90, 80, 70, 60 minutes, I don’t know. Only the game will tell us that.

“Is he on the top of his form? We don’t know.

“It’s not a little training session with our friends from Norwich that’s going to tell us the answer. But for him he’s around 6 months without playing a football match but he works extremely well. He’s an amazing professional and he’s going to start tomorrow.”

Mourinho’s desire to get Kane back into Tottenham’s team is totally understandable, even if he isn’t fully match sharp right now.

Spurs’s form dipped massively after Kane suffered an injury, and then Heung-Min Son was also ruled out.

Tottenham tried out the likes of Lucas Moura, Dele Alli and Steven Bergwijn up-front but none of the trio carried anywhere near the same threat as Kane.

If Tottenham are able to beat United this evening they will propel themselves back into the race for a Champions League qualification spot.
