Mourinho makes comment about Alli in training, after Tottenham’s latest victory

Jose Mourinho has insisted to Sky Sports that Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli has not given him any problems.

Alli has fallen out of favour at Tottenham after being substituted off in the Lilywhites’ first game of the season at half-time.

The England international has seen his future heavily speculated about in recent weeks.

But Alli did at least make it off the bench yesterday, as Spurs crushed Manchester United at Old Trafford.

And Mourinho insists that Alli has actually impressed him in Tottenham training with his attitude.

“He never stopped showing, I always thought that. I never had a problem with him. Very polite and educated, behaving well and training well,” Mourinho said.

“If sometimes I want different things from him on the pitch that’s more about his qualities as his player.

“He was on the bench, in a team and squad where it’s going to be difficult to play.”

Alli is now facing a real fight to win his place back in Tottenham’s team, and he can have few complaints about being left out at the minute.

Spurs have coped well in his absence, and seem to be really clicking into gear now.

Their display against United was hugely impressive, as they dominated the game from start to finish, after an early set-back.

Mourinho will be able to work with Alli more on the training ground over the next fortnight, as the Spurs midfielder is not part of England’s latest squad.
