Speaking to GiveMeSport, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham remain very keen on Milan Skriniar this summer, but a deal may be hard to reach.
Tottenham had a high-profile interest in the centre-half last summer, but a deal couldn’t be agreed, and Romano believes Tottenham still think very highly of the Inter ace.
However, due to how important he has proven to be for Antonio Conte’s side, Romano says that any deal to bring him in would be expensive.
“I will mention again Skriniar because they love this player. They are scouting, they love this player, they are convinced he would be perfect. Mourinho loves this player. He’s one of the players they are convinced would be perfect,” Romano said.
“It is about the scouting, the board, Mourinho. They have one big problem, they were really close to signing Milan Skriniar, they offered like €35m, Inter were asking for €50m, so they were close, but they decided to give up.
“What happened in this moment is that Conte is doing an amazing job with Skriniar and now he is a starter, before they had Diego Godin and Skriniar wasn’t playing, now he’s a starter and he is doing so well, fans are in love with Skriniar, so now it is not €50m, I think it will be around €80/75m for Srkiniar.”

It seems as though Spurs really like Skriniar, but a deal to bring him in looks unlikely.
Alasdair Gold has said that there aren’t funds to spend this summer, so unless there’s a very big sale at Spurs, it’s hard to see where they’d find this kind of money.
However, if Mourinho is such a big fan, this isn’t one we should be writing off, so it is worth keeping one eye on this situation in the coming months.
