Jose Mourinho seems to agree that Harry Winks was Tottenham Hotspur’s best player on Wednesday night.
Spurs moved into the semi-final of the Carabao Cup with a 3-1 win away to Stoke City last night.
Mourinho recalled the out-of-favour midfielder to his Tottenham XI and Winks repaid him with an excellent display.
The 25-year-old was bright throughout the game and played a big role in the Lilywhites’ opener, delivering a lovely cross for Gareth Bale to head home.
Tottenham paid tribute to Winks on Instagram after the game, posting a photo of him alongside a ‘Man of the Match’ caption.
And it seems like Mourinho agreed with that assertion, evident by the fact he ‘liked’ that particular post on Instagram.
It could be a big few weeks for Winks.
Everton have been linked with a move for him in January [Eurosport] but, being a local lad, Winks, who was valued at £40 million in August, he’ll be desperate to succeed under Mourinho at Tottenham.
Taking his chances could be key, however, but he certainly gave a brilliant account of himself last night.
