Tottenham Hotspur’s season was hanging by a thread at the time of the hiatus.
Spurs had just been eliminated from the FA Cup and Champions League in quick succession and, to make matters worse, they were eighth in the Premier League and six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
But things could get a lot better for Tottenham fans, if and when Project Restart goes ahead.
The Premier League is ‘confident’ about resuming the 2019-20 campaign in June, according to its chief executive Richard Masters, and the North Londoners might have a full compliment available.
One reason why Jose Mourinho’s side were struggling a few months ago is because they were without Harry Kane, Moussa Sissoko and Son Heung-min.
All three are huge players for Tottenham, but Mourinho has revealed to Football London that all three – including Steven Bergwijn – are fit again, which bodes well for a restart next month.
He said: “In Harry’s case, I think it’s about five months where he hasn’t played a match, but all of them are not injured anymore.
“They are training, it is what it is and it has a lot of limitations, we cannot compete, we cannot do one v one, we have to keep a certain distance, we’re in groups of five, but Harry, Son, Bergwijn, Sissoko, all of them are fine.”
Clawing back a six-point gap from Chelsea was impossible without Kane, Son and Sissoko, but with them, it’s definitely possible and it’ll be interesting to see how Spurs’ form improves from here on in.
