Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has admitted to Football London that Tanguy Ndombele will miss the rest of the season, but Dele Alli could yet make a recovery.

Ndombele picked up an injury in training this week, and it seems that the Frenchman’s season is now effectively over.

It is a rather fitting end to what has been an awful first campaign for Ndombele at Spurs.

The Lilywhites’ record signing just has not been able to put together a run of games, with his injury problems really curtailing his progress.

In better news for Tottenham, Alli could at least return from the hamstring problem which has kept him out for their last few games.

“I know Ndombele will not help us because the injury will keep him out for the next two matches,” Mourinho said.

“Dele maybe can give us a hand. Eric Dier for the last match. Let’s see if we can end the season strong and get a Europa League place.”

Alli’s return should give Mourinho more options in midfield, as he aims to keep his squad fresh following a busy set of fixtures.

Tottenham still have games against Leicester City and Crystal Palace left to play this term.

There may now be questions over whether Ndombele has already played his last game for the club.

Mourinho has not seemed to be overly impressed by the 23-year-old, and he faces a very uncertain summer, as the transfer window edges closer to opening.
