It seems unlikely that Tottenham Hotspur fans will see Joe Hart again this season.
Spurs made a surprise move to sign the former England international on a free transfer last summer, following his release by Burnley.
And it’s been a decent first season for Hart, who was always going to be Hugo Lloris’s understudy – and that hasn’t changed.
But the truth is that he probably won’t play for the club again until next season.
Virtually all of his appearances had come in the Europa League, but Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho went with Lloris for the visit of Dinamo Zagreb in midweek and that effectively ended Hart’s campaign.
And with the Lilywhites needing to win all of their remaining Premier League games to increase the likelyhood of a top-four finish, there’s just no margin for error for Mourinho in any competition.
The France international will also start the League Cup final against Manchester City next month as Tottenham look to end a 13-year trophy drought.
Every game between now and the end of the season, Mourinho has to name his best-possible XI and the truth is, Hart doesn’t qualify for that.
