Danny Rose paid a heartfelt farewell to Tottenham Hotspur fans today.

Tottenham announced last month that the 30-year-old was going to be released by the club.

Rose joined Spurs at the age of only 16 back in 2007 and established himself as a key member of the Lilywhites’ senior side over quite a number of years.

But Jose Mourinho’s arrival in November of 2019 was the beginning of the end for the left-back, who was loaned to Newcastle United two months later and spent the whole of last season in exile.

Rose really hasn’t always been hugely popular among Tottenham fans following an explosive interview he had about the club’s transfer policy under Mauricio Pochettino.

But the former Leeds United youth looked teary-eyed when he paid tribute to them in one last goodbye via the North Londoners’ Twitter account.

He said: “The fans, they’ve been top class. I think I gave them a reason or two not to be behind me over the years but they’ve been brilliant. Even now I get stopped in the street and they thank me for everything so I just want to say thank you for the love and support that they’ve given me over the 14 years.

“I’m hoping I will get a chance to say goodbye to everybody. I’m going to miss all the fans, miss everybody who has been involved at Spurs and I look forward to coming back one day. They’ll be a part of my heart for a long time and I’m going to miss them.”

Here’s how some Tottenham supporters reacted to his comments on Twitter:
